Why do they still put value's on the coins?
 
My 2008 silver 1oz Philharmonikers have "1,5 euro" on it ... why do they (still) do this?

To make it illegal to counterfeit them.

It allows the governments a competitive advantage against private mints.

By declaring it to be "legal tender" the coin is excepted from certain import tariffs.

If they didn't, they would not be coins.
